Blackstone
Blackstone is probably not a name that most grilling enthusiasts are familiar with. And, that is more than okay because you will know everything that you need to know about the company and its products after reading this. Even though they are a brand that most people are not familiar with, Blackstone is still one of the leading grilling companies when it comes to versatility and reliability. Their products are not only completely redesigned to fit into your life and become the centerpiece of your patio, but they are specifically designed to provide maximum convenience along with an excellent grilling experience. The company has dedicated itself to excellence and culinary greatness, and it is safe to say that they have delivered just that over the years. And, they have done this by partnering with pro chefs, backyard masters, and the everyday home-cook.
Camp Chef
Camp Chef is a company with roots that are burrowed deep in the great outdoors. It was back in 1990 that the brand got its start when the founder, Ty Measom found himself frustrated and inspired by the size and quality of the outdoor cooking equipment available to him. He not only wanted a product that powerful and could serve all his grilling needs, but he wanted an outdoor product that was completely portable. He spent countless hours brainstorming, tinkering, and messing around until he came up with one of the company’s first models. Not only was one of the company’s first models born this day, but a company that pioneered the camp-cooking industry was born. Since then their products added grill box attachments, cast iron pieces, and pellet grills, but they still stick to that powerful portability notion that the company was founded around.
Blackstone 1554 Station-4-Burner Gas Grill Review
The Blackstone 1554 features everything needed to prepare most foods, including vegetables and meats. The grill comes with a griddle top that is constructed of durable 7-gauge rolled carbon steel. This construction ensures longevity even if you utilize three times a day for the next few years. The griddle top is so durable that it will endure damage caused by hours of traditional grilling.
Independently Controlled Burners
The burners have a unique design, which is not featured on most brands. This unique feature is independently controlled burners. This design allows you to manually control the temperature of each burner separately. Instead of having one temperature for all the burners, the temperature settings can vary from one burner to another.
BTU Rating
The BTU rating of a grill can make a big difference. With that being said, you should know that the Blackstone knocks it out of the park in this category. It features four burners and can produce a maximum of 60,000 BTUs. You’ll also appreciate the 4-zone heating control. The Camp Chef has four 12,000 BTU burners and can output a maximum of 48,000 BTUs. The Blackstone is superior in this category and packs a bit more power.
Portability
Ultimately, you’re going to find that the Blackstone grill is one of the most portable grills out there. It has four wheels at the bottom so you can move it around easily. On the flip side, the Camp Chef has two wheels and a handle. While you can move it easily, you’ll be much more likely to run into problems with the Camp Chef. So, those who want maximum portability should go with the Blackstone grill.
Camp Chef Flat Top Grill Review
If you’re willing to pay a bit more, you may prefer the Camp Chef Flat Top Grill. This grill offers a massive cooking surface ensuring you’re able to cook more food at once. Simultaneously, it has two folding shelves that will prove to be beneficial when you’re preparing meals. However, it may not be better than the Blackstone Professional 36-inch Outdoor Flat Top Gas Grill. Below, you will learn more about the Camp Chef so you can find out which one is going to work best for you.
Surface
The Camp Chef Flat Top Grill has an interchangeable flat top griddle that measures 20.5 by 31 inches. It offers a griddle surface of 604 square inches and a grilling surface of 501 square inches. This is slightly smaller than what you’re going to get with the Blackstone since it has a cooking area of 720 square inches. If you’re mainly interested in preparing more food at once, you’ll want to go with the Blackstone.
Four Burners
Another thing to note is that the Camp Chef Flat Top Grill has four stainless steel burners and they’re 12,000 BTUs. This grill has a matchless ignition as well. This is far lower than what you’re going to get with the Blackstone. The alternative offers 60,000 BTUs. If you feel the need to have more power and heat, you’ll want to stick with the Blackstone.
Size And Weight
The Camp Chef measures in at 62.5” by 37” by 22” and it weighs 142 pounds. It is easy to transport so you shouldn’t have any trouble moving the grill from one location to the next. Despite having a bigger cooking surface, the Blackstone is slightly smaller since it measures 62.5” by 22” by 36”. However, it should be noted that the difference is minor. The Blackstone weighs less at 120 pounds too.
Conclusion
You really cannot go wrong with the Blackstone 1554 Station-4-Burner Gas Grill or the Camp Chef Flat Top Grill. Both are excellent grills but I prefer the Blackstone 1554 Grill because of its higher BTU rating. This makes the grill more diverse, so you can utilize it for more grilling purposes. I do like the fact that the Camp Chef Flat Top Grill can be lit with matches and the ignition. If it happens the ignition switch becomes damaged, it is still functional because you can light the burner with matches. Again, I cannot stress enough that both grills are great options for most consumers.
